Submitted by beyrich1 on Mon, 01/19/2009 - 16:31
Twenty second grade students will apply their math, reading, and science skills to conduct a variety of experiments to assess the extent of air & water pollution in their community. The pollution leads to 25% of children in the city developing asthma. The experiments will take place in Peshine Avenue School in Newark, NJ and out of the school.
The students will plan, implement, reflect and celebrate over a twelve week period starting on January 20, 2009 and ending on April 25th, 2009. They will produce a video with their findings and use it to educate their community about the relationship between air and water pollution and health issues that arise for children in the community, such as asthma.
