United Way of Tri County

This upcoming GYSD, UWTC plans on having multiple opportunities for youth and other community members to volunteer and participate in during Global Youth Service Day. Out plan is to host Live United Weekend. We plan on partnering with our local schools, after school programs, youth organizations, social service organizations, businesses, and our partners to coordinate projects related to our three focus areas of Education, Health, and Community Renewal in each community. Projects include a book drive, reading to children, supporting community gardens, walking teams, support for local food banks, maintaining public lands, connecting with veterans, preparing the community for disasters, and additional projects that youth determine and lead on their own. Friday we will partner with public schools within our communities to hold book drives, read to children, and plant and clean up around the community. Saturday we will have activities around our community for everyone and anyone to volunteer together. Within each community we will have locations to host pick up drives to collect items that our community organizations need including food, clothing, office supplies, schools supplies, and much more. Volunteers will collect and organize the items so that they can be sent to the appropriate agency. Booths will be set up for community members to learn about the local agencies in the community, for student organizations, and Youth Venture teams to explain their projects. Sunday will be a day of celebration. We will have a band, food, art and crafts, and activities to give recognition to the youth and community members that came out to volunteer. We will hand out t-shirts, award individuals that volunteered and businesses that contributed to Live United Weekend. Live United Weekend will show each participant how every member in our community can help out, lend a hand, and Live United.
